Harrisburg Social Media Club Presents Social Media at Work 2012

Social Media at Work 2012 LogoHarrisburg, PA (October 5, 2012) – Harrisburg Social Media Club (@HarrisburgSMC) presents Social Media at Work 2012 (#SMatWork12), a day-long digital media conference, on October 17, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Harrisburg Area Community College’s Wildwood Conference Center.

“The digitization of a company is dramatically related to its growth and prosperity,” says Anne Deeter Gallaher, founder of Harrisburg Social Media Club and one of the event organizers. “There’s a business advantage in leveraging the power of social media for customers and communities. These channels are integral to public relations, branding, marketing, and sales.”

Featuring more than 20 marketing, digital, and business leaders from across the U.S. and Canada, Social Media at Work 2012 will deliver a day of learning and social business practices to implement immediately.

“No theory, just actionable information, and a chance to connect in-real-life with influencers, executives, and practitioners,” says Dan Christ, director of audience engagement at The Patriot-News.

Panels include how to use Twitter and Facebook for a business, how to incorporate digital channels into a strategic marketing plan, and how to create a social media policy.  “When you have 100 business professionals in one room tweeting and posting from Harrisburg, it fills the web with valuable business information emanating from our city. That’s Google gold!” says Deeter Gallaher.

Keynotes are Mark. W. Schaefer, international social media expert, author of Return on Influence, and professor of digital studies at Rutgers University, and Glen Gilmore, also a professor at Rutgers, an attorney with an emphasis on social media law, and listed as number seven on Forbes Top Influencers.
